Engineer Muhammadu Jabbi Shagari is the current Sokoto State Commissioner for Finance He got admission into the the Birnin Kebbi Polytechnic of the old Sokoto State, where he bagged his diploma in mechanical engineering and subsequently to Kaduna Polytechnic where he bagged his HND in the same mechanical engineering. He later obtained admission into Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Zaria, getting a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Transport Management and again obtained another PGD in Management and Masters in Business Administration from the prestigious Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

He joined the State Ministry of Works as an Assistant Technical Officer, he was later Senior Technical Officer and Principal Technical Officer. He was Director of Operations of the State Transport Authority and thereafter became the General Manager of SSTA. He was later appointed by the then Military Administration as the Sole Administrator of Gudu Local Government and later was appointed as Permanent Secretary in 2003 and meritoriously served in various ministries which include: Department for Rural Water Supply, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Commerce and Tourism, and Ministry of Rural Development from 2003 to 2014.

He earned recognition from the palace of the traditional district head of Shagari, who gave him the old title of “Ubandoman Shagari” in 2010. After retirement, he got elected as the Executive Chairman of Shagari LGA and Chairman All Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Sokoto State Chapter. He is now a current member of the Sokoto State Executive Council, serving as the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Finance.
