
Hon. Mohammed Abatcha Geidam
Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Yobe State
Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, mni, FCNA, CPA (Ireland), ACITN, is a distinguished finance expert with a far-reaching career in accounting and public service. Geidam’s academic foundation was laid in his hometown and further strengthened by a B.Sc. in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano, in 1984.
He later acquire an Advanced Public Enterprises Certificate from the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy from the Nigerian College of Accountancy (1995-1996), and an MBA with a finance concentration from the University of Maiduguri (2000). His international forays include a Certificate in Management Development and Good Governance from Thames Valley University, London (2007-2008) and many more.
His career began in 1979 at the Geidam Local Government Council and evolved through roles in the private sector at Maiduguri Flour Mills Ltd (1985-1988) and the Borno Supply Company Ltd (1989) as Chief Accountant. Geidam served as Deputy Financial Controller of Yobe State Agricultural Development Programme (1992) and advanced to Financial Controller (Director).
He was appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary in 1999, and ascended to Permanent Secretary in 2003, serving until 2021. Post-retirement, he was named Executive Chairman of the Yobe State Internal Revenue Service, and in September 2022. Currently, Mohammed Abatcha Geidam holds the esteemed position of Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Yobe State
