Dr. Nsikan Linus Nkan is the Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State. Prior to his appointment in July 2023, he had served as the State Accountant-General and Commissioner for Finance during the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

A fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Dr. Nkan holds a Doctorate Degree in Accounting from the University of Uyo, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Ado Ekiti and a B.Sc. Accounting from the University of Cross River State, now the University of Uyo.

Dr. Nkan got his first appointment with the Ideal Flour Mills Ltd., Kaduna before venturing into the banking industry in Zenith Bank Plc. where he rose to the position of Assistant General Manager and Zonal Head, Akwa Ibom State.

He has proved himself apt, knowledgeable and reputable by bringing in some innovations into the State Payroll System, a drive that berthed the most effective and reliable Payroll System in the State with attendant result of prompt and regular payment of salaries of workers. This innovation also helped in eliminating ghost workers and other irregularities from the State Payroll System.

Dr Nkan has served the State in many capacities including; State Coordinator of SFTAS (State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability) with the State winning many World Bank awards and prizes, Chairman, State Fiscal Responsibility Board and many more.
