ASIWAJU ASIRU IDRIS was Born 22nd of December, 1975 in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State. He started school at the AUD School Bagido, Isanlu in 1982. Asiwaju holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and also a Master’s of Science in Accounting from the Kogi State University, Anyigba, Kogi State.

He was the Branch Head in one of Nigeria’s biggest financial institution in Nigeria, Zenith Bank Plc between 2014 – 2016 until his appointment as Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development in January 2016 where he carried out his duties meticulously, and effectively drove financial reforms while managing the resources of Kogi State. His track records got him reappointment as the Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning in January 2020. He was reappointed by the new Governor of Kogi State retaining his previous portfolio in January 2024 till date.He serves on alternative positions such as;

• Member Ajaokuta Presidential Project Implementation Team
• Alternate Chairman Kogi State Economic Management Team

Asiwaju is also a member of several professional bodies which includes;

• Fellow Chartered Accountants of Nigeria
• Fellow Chartered Institute of Taxation

He is well travelled, happily married to a dutiful woman, blessed with 3 children.
