Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Ekiti State
Akintunde Oyebode is an Economist, passionate about sustainable development, finance, investment and youth employment. He began his career as a Research Assistant at the Lagos Business School, and spent over a decade in various banking roles with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Stanbic IBTC Bank where he was the Country Head of SME Banking.
He was also the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) where he led the development of programmes that provided loans of over N6 billion to 10,000 beneficiaries, employability training for 5,000 unemployed Lagosians with job placement to almost 2,000 people, and workspace vouchers for 100 startups. During his time at LSETF, the institution supported the creation of 100,000 jobs in 3 years, leading to a verifiable reduction in Lagos State’s unemployment rate.
In March 2020, Akin was appointed as Special Adviser to the Governor of Ekiti on Investment, Trade and Innovations; and Director-General of the Ekiti State Development and Investment Promotion Agency leading the attraction of investment announcements of over $2 billion in less than two years. Akin is currently the Honourable Commissioner for Finance for the Ekiti State Government and the Chairman of the Forum of Finance Commissioners of Nigeria.
